Resources for Technical Tax Information:
If you are interested in comprehensive and detailed tax information you can consult the following sources. I have not provided their web sites because they usually do not provide information over the web unless you subscribe to their services. These are publishers of multi volume research resources that go into almost every detail of taxes. You may only be able to find these resources at a law library. Each law library may only have one or two of the resources because of the cost and time in keeping them updated:
- Standard Federal Tax Reports and state tax information are published each year by CCH Incorporated in Chicago Illinois.
- U.S. Income Portfolios; Estates, Gifts, and Trusts Portfolios; Foreign Income Portfolios are all published by Bureau of National Affairs (BNA) in Washington, D.C. The portfolio series has some of the most comprehensive treatment of even the most obscure issues that you could imagine.
- Research Institute of America (RIA) is a publisher of federal and state tax information.
