About Us

I am Frederick A. Thompson, the founder and principal of Frederick A. Thompson, CPA, Inc. I am known for helping individuals and businesses understand and navigate the complex financial, business and tax world. I believe in empowering individuals to take control of their future.

I have 30 years experience working as a Certified Public Accountant. To become a Certified Public Accountant I had to take college courses in business law, accounting, auditing, and taxation. In addition I had to take a rigorous 2½ day board examination administered by the State of California.

I have experience providing various types of services including: Financial auditing; Financial statement preparation; Tax preparation; Tax research; Tax audit representation; Tax planning: Business valuation; Litigation support; Forensic examination of financial records; Probate proceedings; Testimony in state and federal courts.

I have worked with individuals and companies in a wide range of industries: Garment and textile manufacturers; Boat manufacturers; Precision equipment manufacturing for the nuclear power industry and nuclear submarines; Semi conductors for the defense industry; Real estate developers and sales agents; Heavy equipment manufacturing for the pulp and paper industry; Electrical controls manufacturing for the water treatment plants; Attorneys; Medical research; Performing arts - non profit; Non profit community service.

I was involved in my father's manufacturing business from an early age. My involvement in my father's business inspired me to study business administration and particularly accounting. My work experience in my father's family business, education, and professional experience has given me an appreciation and understanding of many aspects of business. I have worked on the production floor, been involved in business management, and had exposure to many management and administrative levels in numerous businesses and industries.

My experience in my father's business for several years has given me a deep appreciation for the nuts and bolts reality of business operations. My professional training and experience as a Certified Public Accountant has given me exposure to the confidential affairs and operations of many businesses at executive levels.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from California State University at Fullerton in 1974. I received my certification as a Certified Public Accountant from the State of California in 1974.
